Creighton University’s online Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ethics Consultation will help you advance your skills in ethics consultation.
Description

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ethics Consultation will provide foundational knowledge, through graduate level coursework, to clinicians and healthcare professionals who are interested in advancing their skills related to clinical consultation and ethics committees. You’ll gain hands-on experience in ethical assessment, analysis, process and evaluation.

“The Graduate School at Creighton places high value on interdisciplinary work. The clinical ethics consultation program encourages students to work across professions and be innovative and agile.”

—Sarah Lux, PhD | Associate Director and Program Director, Graduate School

More than 80% of the hospitals in the United States have a service that addresses ethical issues or are involved in active clinical cases. Healthcare ethics consultation requires particular knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Although a multitude of different disciplines are represented among those who perform healthcare ethics consultations, many of these healthcare ethics consultants lack education and the opportunity to practice the process and interpersonal skills required. Creighton’s Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ethics Consultation will help you become a professional with strong ethical skills, meeting the needs of the industry.

Through rigorous coursework, you will learn to discern ethical problems in health care practices, systems, policies, and laws and apply ethical principles, norms, and theories when presented with an ethical concern. You’ll also prepare to educate others about ethics in medicine and facilitate open discussion among multiple stakeholders in ethically complex situations.

As you complete your coursework, you’ll have the support of expert faculty and peers from a wide range of professions—including physicians, nurses, chaplains, lawyers, hospice workers, hospital administrators, lab technicians, medical researchers, social workers and more.
