In as little as one year, this health care certificate program can empower those working in nursing, healthcare administration, public health, healthcare law, EMS, medicine or other health professions to approach and effectively manage conflict in a healthcare setting.
“I think our students are what make the Health Care Collaboration and Conflict Management program really great. They’re so diverse in terms of their culture and heritage, and also in the disciplines they come from—that creates a special synergy.”
— Cindy Costanzo, PhD, RN, FNAP | Senior Associate Dean and Interim Program Director, Graduate School
A positive patient outcome is the goal, but when discord becomes part of the patient experience, an extensive understanding of conflict resolution approaches can help avoid lawsuits and a lack of trust in the healthcare system. The Health Care Collaboration and Conflict Management program can help you learn new conflict engagement techniques to address legal and ethical issues that may arise in a clinical setting—whether they involve a patient, your coworkers or even management.
Through rigorous coursework, you’ll learn to responsibly take action to manage or resolve conflict, using the Ignatian values as a guide toward social justice. You’ll also develop health administrative management skills that make you an asset to any health care organization.
Graduate-level education that meets you where you are in life
We know that graduate school can be a significant investment of your time and money, so we make sure that your investment is a smart one—and one that you can fit in your busy schedule. This 15-credit program is designed to meet the needs of busy professionals and can be completed in as little as a year.
Through online discussions you’ll be encouraged to network with and practice your conflict resolution skills alongside other classmates in your cohort. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply techniques you learn in your workplace.
