In this Executive Healthcare MBA (EMBA) program, you’ll join a rich, multidisciplinary cohort in a learning environment that combines online and residency-based experiences and coursework. The Executive Healthcare MBA program at Creighton has a robust and credible curriculum, designed around two of the most admired professional associations in the healthcare industry: the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leadership. With instruction from our respected faculty, you’ll be well-prepared to complete either organization’s respective certification exam processes if you choose to do so.

The Executive Healthcare MBA is ideal for physicians and mid-career healthcare professionals who seek a graduate degree in healthcare administration and have the goal to perform at a higher level in a growing and competitive field. Ideal students for this program include clinicians who manage departments, physicians who aspire to departmental or organizational leadership, are serving on organizational leadership committees or manage private practices or other entrepreneurial ventures.

This program is a hybrid of both on-campus and online instruction to allow maximum flexibility for professional schedules.

Program Goals and Curriculum

A rigorous, accelerated program, the Executive Healthcare MBA is offered in a flexible, cohort-based, hybrid format designed in the following structure: 

  • 18 months
  • 45 credit hours
  • Four, four-day on-campus residencies

Creighton University’s Executive Healthcare MBA Program educates and empowers experienced healthcare professionals to advance in positions of leadership in healthcare and health-related organizations. The program is specifically tailored for physicians, advanced clinicians, and mid-career healthcare administrators. The program is committed to providing excellent clinical, managerial, and leadership focused healthcare business content and applications in addition to providing strategic perspectives in forming of the whole person through a practitioner-teacher model. The program offers a flexible, cohort-based, Jesuit values-centered, hybrid learning environment that combines online, residential, experiential, and simulative experiences to advance in management and leadership of health systems, hospitals, physician practices, and clinical departments.

Specific Application Requirements

To be considered for admission to the Executive Healthcare MBA program, applicants must:

  • Complete an application and submit a $50 application fee
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree with 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Provide official transcripts from all educational institutions attended
  • Have at least five years of management experience or clinical practice in a healthcare organization
  • Include a resume or curriculum vitae
  • Submit a personal statement (see application for specific requirements)
  • Submit three letters of recommendation from persons other than friends or family members

A personal interview may be requested in addition to the above requirements. The interview may be conducted in-person or virtually.

Due to residency requirements, international students may face difficulties in this program, but are welcome to apply. Please work directly with your enrollment specialist to discuss your situation and how Creighton can support you.
