Program Goals and Curriculum

The MS in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program is ideal for those looking to effectively manage conflict across a wide variety of industries and settings. The program can typically be completed in about two years on a part-time basis, but highly motivated full-time students can earn their degree in as little as 16 months.

To earn this master’s degree, you must complete 33 credits:

  • Core Foundational and Process Courses
    • Negotiation
    • Introduction to Conflict Engagement
    • Facilitative Conflict Engagement Residency
    • Leadership and Conflict Engagement
    • Dynamics of Conflict Resolution and Engagement
    • Systems Thinking in Conflict
    • Culture, Gender, and Power Differences in Conflict
    • Oral Narratives and Conflict: An Applied Interdisciplinary Approach
  • Electives
    • Healthcare Collaboration and Conflict Engagement
    • Structural Injustices
    • Online Dispute Resolution
  • Practicum
    Students complete an 80-hour practicum over 16 weeks, culminating in a final paper and a virtual presentation (via Skype, Zoom, etc.)

Specific Application Requirements

To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program, applicants must:

  • Complete an application
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree with 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Provide official transcripts from all educational institutions attended. Read more about sending transcripts here
  • Include a resume or curriculum vitae
  • Submit a personal statement (see application for specific requirements)
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from persons other than friends or family members

A personal interview may be requested in addition to the above requirements. The interview may be conducted in-person or virtually.

International students are welcomed into this program so long as they complete it from their country of residence, as F-1 visas will not be issued. 

International applicants must meet English language proficiency requirements.
